MAPGA Championship

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- Beaver Creek Country Club pro Dirk Schultz was tied for seventh place after the second day of the Mid-Atlantic Professional Golf Association Championship at The Golden Horseshoe Golf Club.

Schultz, after an opening-round 68, shot a 1-under 71 and stood at 4-under 139 heading into today's final round. He was seven shots behind co-leaders Jim Estes and Rick Schuller.

Lampard ends in 7th

LOTHIAN, Md. -- Hagerstown's Ken Lampard finished in a tie for seventh place in the 22nd Mid-Amateur Championship at Old South Golf Club, conducted by the Maryland State Golf Association.


Lampard had rounds of 73 and 77 for a 6-over 150. He won the tournament in 2004 when it was played at Old South.

Rotz misses Amateur cut

PINEHURST, N.C. -- Clayton Rotz, of Chambersburg, Pa. and Louisiana State University, missed the cut at the United States Golf Association U.S. Amateur Championship.

Rotz shot a 74 Tuesday to finish with a 16-over 156 on rounds played on the No. 2 and No. 4 courses at Pinehurst Resort & Country Club. Robbie Fillmore, of Provo, Utah, is the leader at 6-under-par 134.

Hoffman in 26th

PROVIDENCE FORGE, Va. -- Alex Hoffman, 16, was tied for 26th following the first day of the American Junior Golf Association CNL Lifestyle Junior Championship.

Hoffman shot a 5-over-par 77 on the 6,983-yard Traditions Golf Club at Royal New Kent. He was seven shots behind co-leaders Daniel Walker, of Virginia, and Bo Andrews, of North Carolina.


Gary Brown 5-Miler set for Saturday

The 27th annual Gary Brown Memorial C&O Canal 5-Mile Run will be held Saturday morning, starting and ending at Riverbottom Park in Williamsport.

Registration begins at 7 a.m. and the race starts at 8. Cost is $30 for adults and $20 for students.
