Mr. Stuart A. DeWease, Jr., 49

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Stuart A. DeWease, Jr., 49, of 614 Park St., died Friday, Aug. 15, 2008, at his home.

Born April 19, 1959, in Waynesboro, he was the son of Marilyn C. Cordell DeWease of Waynesboro and the late Stuart Alvin DeWease Sr.

He was a 1977 graduate of Waynesboro Area Senior High School. He also attended Franklin County Vo-Tech in Chambersburg, taking culinary and hotel management classes.

He worked as a machine operator at Beck Manufacturing in Waynesboro.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by one sister, Tina M. Chamberlin of Waynesboro; two brothers, Kirk D. DeWease of Waynesboro and Lance E. DeWease of Fayetteville, Pa.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Harbaugh Church Cemetery near Rouzerville. Pastor Fredrica K. Meitzen will officiate.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from noon to 1 p.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro.

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Barbara J. Gordon Smith, 66, of 711 Fir Spring Drive, died Sunday, Aug. 17, 2008, at her home.

Born Jan. 22, 1942, in Fulton County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Irvin William and Ella May Miller Gordon.

She was a 1959 graduate of Hancock High School.

She retired from General Motors Corp. in Martinsburg, W.Va., in 1994.

She attended Otterbein Church in Waynesboro.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth H. Smith, whom she married April 29, 1972; two daughters, Kathy L. Reid of Clear Spring and Lori A. Smith of Waynesboro; one son, Kevin L. Dicken of Bedford, Pa.; one sister, Carol E. Robinson of Mercersburg, Pa.; one stepdaughter, Kelli S. Smith of Lugoff, S.C.; one brother, John I. Gordon of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; three grandchildren; one stepgranddaughter; one great-grandson; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Florence Ridenour, Lenora Neuhouser and Rosalie Everets; and four brothers, William Gordon, Clarence Gordon, Lester Gordon and Carl Gordon.

Services will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro. The Rev. Paul A. Martin will officiate.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Committal services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Stevens Chapel Cemetery in Monroe Township, Bedford County, near Mattie, Pa.

Keith Rohrer, 22

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Keith Rohrer, 22, of 11791 Penn Mar Road, died Friday, Aug. 15, 2008, at 614 Park St., Waynesboro.

Born Nov. 7, 1985, in Waynesboro, he was the son of Jeffery Rohrer of Waynesboro and Rose Ann Marie Clapsadi of Calham, Colo. He was raised by his paternal grandmother, Lelia "Essie" Rohrer of Waynesboro.

He was a 2003 graduate of Waynesboro Area Senior High School.

He had been employed as a production worker at Beck Manufacturing's Waynesboro plant.

In addition to his parents and paternal grandmother, he is survived by one daughter, Lelia Sue Rohrer of Waynesboro; one brother, Shawn Rohrer of Waynesboro; two half sisters, Angie Shaff and Melanie Shaff; one stepbrother; and four stepsisters.

Graveside services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Harbaugh Church Cemetery. Pastor Don Wehr will officiate.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lochstampfor Funeral Home, Waynesboro, which will open at 11 a.m.

Leonard E. Carpenter Sr. 61

FALLING WATERS, W.Va. - Leonard Eugene Carpenter Sr., 61, of P.O. Box 85, Falling Waters, died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2008, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Nov. 18, 1946, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Lawrence R. and Rosie A. King Carpenter.

He was a 1964 graduate of North Hagerstown High School.

He was a master plumber for the State of Maryland.

He was a member of AMVETS Post 38, Falling Waters, and the Pegasus Club.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth V. Green Carpenter; one daughter, Annette L. Kelbaugh of Hagerstown; two sons, Leonard E. Carpenter Jr. of Hedgesville, W.Va., and Lawrence R. Carpenter of Martinsburg, W.Va.; four grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; aunts; uncles; and cousins.

Services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Jackie Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
