Franklin County career center honors nursing students

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Graduation for the 21 members of the August 2008 class of Franklin County Career & Technology Center's practical nursing course was held July 31 at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Chambersburg.

Four awards were presented during the ceremony. The awards and their recipients are:

o The Florence Nightingale Award, sponsored by Menno-Haven Inc. and Dr. Paul Orange, was presented to Brianne Doyle.

o The Clinical Practice Award, sponsored by the Business and Professional Women's Club of Chambersburg and the faculty of the practical nursing program, was presented to Heidi Chupp.

o The Scholastic Award, sponsored by Psychological Services Bureau in memory of Anna S. Evans, was presented to Lauren Martin.

o The Geriatric Award, sponsored by the Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center auxiliary, was awarded to Susan Wilhelm.

The career and technology center's practical nursing program is offered on the Wilson College campus. The one-year program provides the theory and clinical learning experience for graduates to sit for the licensing exam.
