Grace A. Melius, 85



APRIL 23, 1923-AUG. 14, 2008

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Grace A. Wible Melius, 85, a resident of Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, and formerly of 7694 Browns Mill Road in Antrim Township, died Thursday, Aug. 14, 2008, at the nursing home.

Born April 23, 1923, in Three Springs, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Leslie A. and Fannie Stains Wible.

Her husband, Arnold L. "Bill" Melius, died Sept. 30, 1998. They were married April 6, 1942.

She attended Cherry Grove School in Cherry Grove, Pa.

She is survived by one daughter, Evelyn M. Thomas of Greencastle, Pa.; two sons, Donald C. Melius of Greencastle and Ronald L. Melius of Marion, Pa.; two sisters, Alice Reihart of St. Thomas, Pa., and Leona Frain of Greencastle; one brother, Elbert Wible of Hustontown, Pa.; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; nieces; and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Virginia L. Melius; two sisters, Beatrice Reihart and Blanche Byers; and one brother, Donald Wible.

Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home in Greencastle. The Rev. Gayle L. Ruble Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in Browns Mill Cemetery in Kauffman, Pa.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m.




James J. Hughes, 73

James Jackson Hughes, 73, of 11 S. Walnut St., Hagerstown, died Friday, Aug. 15, 2008, at Julia Manor in Hagerstown.

Born May 24, 1935, in Shenandoah, Va., he was the son of the late Wayne Gerard and Flora Ellen Yager Hughes.

He was previously employed by Miller's Furniture in Hagerstown.

He was a member of Grove Hill United Methodist Church in Grove Hill, Va.

He was a member of Community Rescue Service in Hagerstown.

He is survived by one sister, Bertha F. Seal of Clear Spring; two brothers, Edward W. Hughes of Hagerstown and Douglas M. Hughes of Shenandoah; nieces; and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his twin brother, John W. Hughes; and one sister, Velva A. Zimmerman.

Graveside services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Williamsport. Associate Pastor Christine Shenberger will officiate.

Osborne Funeral Home in Williamsport will be open Monday from 1 to 5 p.m.

The family requests the omission of flowers.

Zachariah H. Gatewood, infant

Zachariah Hasim Gatewood, infant son of Latief Hasim Leo Gatewood and Teresa Marie Russ of Hagerstown, died Thursday, Aug. 14, 2008, at Washington County Hospital.

He was born Aug. 14, 2008, in Hagerstown.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sisters, Tykeia Russ and Ange Gatewood, both at home; one brother, Elijah Gatewood at home; maternal grandmother, Paula Burnett of Hagerstown; and paternal grandmother, Elsie Vasquez of Frederick, Md.

There will be no services or viewing.

Arrangements are by Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. in Hagerstown.

June E. Murphy, 73



SEPT. 28, 1934-AUG. 14, 2008

June Elaine Murphy, 73, formerly of 852 Snyder Ave., Hagerstown, died Thursday, Aug. 14, 2008, at Western Maryland Hospital Center.

Born Sept. 28, 1934, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Wesley and Frances Rhoades Resh.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Thomas Murphy, in 1997.

She was employed by Western Maryland Hospital Center for 22 years, retiring in 1994.

She was a member of Broadfording Church of God.

She is survived by one daughter, Beatrice J. Morrell of Hagerstown; three sons, James W. Murphy of Harrisburg, Pa., Timothy M. Murphy of Orange Park, Fla., and Thomas P. Murphy of Falling Waters, W.Va.; two sisters, Sarah Spickler of Hagerstown and Mary Horst of Chambersburg; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters and seven brothers.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. in Hagerstown. The Rev. Alan N. Clingan will officiate. Burial will be in Broadfording Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Richard A. Juenger, 56

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Richard A. Juenger, 56, of 314 Harvest Lane, died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2008, at Chambersburg (Pa.) Hospital.

Born June 24, 1952, in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late Robert E. Juenger Sr. and Joan Bietsch Juenger.

He retired from Knouse Foods.

He lettered in track in high school.

He is survived by one daughter, Jessica L. Davis of Stuttgart, Germany; one son, Jeremy A. Juenger of Chambersburg; three siblings, Steven R. Juenger and James G. Juenger, both of St. Thomas, Pa., and Lisa J. Hartley of Lewes, Del.; one granddaughter; and his companion of 10 years, Nancy Crites.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Robert E. Juenger Jr.

Services will be Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home in Chambersburg.
