Jefferson County mulls more salary hikes

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - The Jefferson County Commission on Thursday continued discussions of pay raises for county employees.

Last week, the commission voted to spend $146,000 to increase wages for 26 employees under their control, and on Thursday, the commission heard proposals to increase wages for employees in other offices, including the Jefferson County Circuit Clerk's office, the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney's office and the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department.

To give employees in those offices raises according to a recently completed wage study, it will cost $60,000 for the sheriff's department, $105,000 for the prosecutor's office and $86,700 for the circuit clerk's office.
