Smithsburg Senior Sunshine Leisure Club

LEITERSBURG - Monday, Aug. 18, 11:30 a.m., Leitersburg Ruritan picnic grounds. This will be the club's annual picnic. Corn, hot dogs, rolls and watermelon will be provided. Members should bring a covered dish and a place setting.

Yard sale

Today and Saturday, Aug. 16, opens at 8 a.m. both days, Christ Lutheran Church, Hagerstown. Food and baked goods will be available. Proceeds benefit the community.

Block party

Saturday, Aug. 16, 2 to7 p.m., parking lot of First Baptist and Washington Square United Methodist Churches. The event features food, music, crafts, face painting and fellowship. Grace United Methodist Church will show the movie "Pinocchio" after the party at 712 Church St.

Car wash

Saturday, Aug. 16, 9 a.m. to1 p.m., Advance Auto Parts, Dual Highway, Hagerstown. Donations help fund Youth of Grace United Methodist Church outreach projects and activities.

Golf tournament

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Saturday, Aug. 16, registration at 1:30 p.m., shotgun start at2:30 p.m., Stonebridge Golf Club. The tournament format will be a two-person scramble. Hosted by Chief Petty Officers Association, Martinsburg chapter. Prizes will be awarded for closest to the pin on hole 4 and longest drive on hole 15. Hole-in-one prizes include $10,000 on hole 9, Sharp LCD TV on hole 3, Big Bertha Irons on hole 13 and round-trip domestic airline tickets for two on hole 17. Proper attire is required. Motorcycle ride for MDA

Special items will be available by silent auction from noon to 2 p.m. Baked goods, soup and sandwiches will also be for sale. Benefits the church's community ministry center.

Michelle Younker Memorial Ride

CLEAR SPRING - Saturday, Aug. 23, registration at 12:30 p.m., ride starts at 2 p.m., Throttles Bar and Grill, 236 Cumberland Street. A $10 donation is requested.
