Market planned Saturdays at Saint Paul's

Saint Paul's Episcopal Church, 209 W. Main St., Sharpsburg, will host market Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., beginning Saturday.

A variety of fresh local produce will be available in front of the church on a donation-only basis, and all proceeds will be given to local charities and outreach projects.

A service of morning prayer will also be held on market days at 9 a.m. and the church will be open to visitors.

Vintage car show

New Covenant Fellowship Church will hold its first antique car and truck show Saturday. Aug. 23, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Antique, classic, custom and street rods through 1980 are welcome for display. No registration fees or judging. Door prizes, food and beverages, children and adult games and entertainment will be provided. Spectators will select their favorite car or truck through People's Choice voting.

Bring your lawn chair and enjoy the day. Rain date is Sunday, Aug. 24, noon to 3 p.m. Call Chuck Dodson at 301-416-3345 for more information or to reserve your space.

Church plans lunch

Salem United Methodist Church, 25 S. Main St., Keedysville, will host a monthly lunch for neighbors, friends and visitors to the area. No child care will be provided; however, children are welcome to attend.

The group is trying to find out what is new in the area, what concerns and interests citizens. The event will be Tuesday at noon.

Jackie Willison to speak at Senior Center

Jackie Willison will speak on "Down Memory Lane, Part II" Monday at the senior site in Keedysville at the Little Antietam Community Center, 40 Mt. Vernon Drive. Helen House will speak on "Alcohol in older people: good and bad" and conduct exercises Tuesday. Legion to hold meeting

The monthly meeting of American Legion Post 236 will be Tuesday, Sept. 1, at 7 p.m. at the Sharpsburg ambulance hall. Post Commander Lawrence Hoffman welcomes all active members and encourages new members. Post 236 supports scholarships, Boys State, Camp West Mar, Christmas for school children and veterans. Post 236 meetings are on the first Tuesday of each month.
