SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. -- A 7-year-old girl was in fair condition Monday morning after she was injured Sunday night when her mother ran over her with her car in a parking lot on Possum Hollow Road in Shippensburg.

The incident happened at about 7:56 p.m. in the parking lot of A&A Storage, Pennsylvania State Police said. A 28-year-old Shippensburg woman, Marisa Leeann Murray, was driving through the parking lot where her children were playing when the girl ran into the path of her 1985 Mercury Cougar and was run over, police said.

The girl's injuries consisted of several burns and bruises, police said in a news release. She was flown to Hershey (Pa.) medical center for precautionary reasons, police said.

A hospital spokeswoman said Monday morning the girl was in fair condition.

Police said the brakes on the vehicle were not working properly. In addition, Murray had a suspended driver's license and the vehicle was unregistered, with no insurance, and displayed a fraudulent inspection sticker, police said.
