Colin Michael Tierney graduated from Towson University in Towson, Md., on May 21.

He received a bachelor of fine arts degree with a major in graphic art and design.

Colin is the son of Terry and Kathy Tierney of Hagers-town.

He is a 2003 graduate of Boonsboro High School.

Sarah J. Barr graduated from Shenandoah University, Bernard Dunn School of Pharmacy in May with her doctorate of pharmacy.

Sarah is the daughter of John and Teresa Barr of Clear Spring. She is the granddaughter of Evelyn Barr, Hagerstown, and LeRoy and Mary Jane Myers of Clear Spring.

Sarah is a 2002 graduate of Clear Spring High School.

Sarah is employed as a pharmacist in Chambersburg, Pa. She plans to marry Matthew Hawbaker on Sept. 6.

The United States Achievement Academy has announced that Tristan Prejean, from Clear Spring, has been recognized as a student of excellence in history.


Tristan, who attends Heritage Academy, was nominated by Robert Becker, a teacher at Heritage.

Tristan will appear in the United States Achievement Academy's official yearbook, which is published nationally.

Tristan is the son of Austin and Lisa Prejean of Clear Spring and the grandson of Tom and Donna Tedrick of Clear Spring and Robbie Prejean of Gonzales, La.

Griffin Abernathy has been named to the dean's list for the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington for the spring semester.

Griffin is a marine biology major and plans to study abroad in Stirling, Scotland.

He is the son of John and Vicki Abernathy of Sharpsburg.
