SHENANDOAH JUNCTION, W.Va. -- A man was driving a farm tractor and a crop sprayer across a private railroad crossing at the Twin Ridge Orchard Thursday morning when the sprayer was struck by a train, a Jefferson County Sheriff's Department spokesman said.

Jacob Kimble, who police estimated was in his 60s, suffered some minor injuries, said Sgt. Shannon Sell.

Kimble tried to beat an oncoming train at the crossing about 8:45 a.m. when the train struck the crop sprayer, Sell said.

The accident occurred near Luther Jones Road.
