Hickory Elementary

Hickory Elementary school needs lunch assistants. Applicants will have an opportunity to work with students in a relaxed atmosphere. The school is small and the groups at lunch each lunch period are small. Those interested in applying can contact school principal Amy Norris at 301-766-8198.

Music by the Lake

The Music by the Lake concert series continues this week at Hagerstown City Park with a performance by Dead Men's Hollow. Music will begin at 7 p.m. on Saturday. The event is free. For more information, contact the city at 301-739-8577, ext. 183, or go to www.hagers-townmd.org on the Web.

Railroad Museum

On Saturday, Aug. 16, at 7 p.m., the Hagerstown Railroad Museum in City Park will welcome Dave Shakleford as he presents a free presentation tracing the early history and development of the railroad through the Civil War period with an emphasis on the evolution of Western Maryland Railroad and the expansion of the railroad in the Washington County region. Running event

Runners of all ages and abilities are invited to participate in a 5-mile run beginning at Riverbottom Park in Williamsport on Saturday, Aug. 23. The race will start at 8 a.m. and is open to 200 participants. This footrace will be held on the C&O Canal towpath. For more information, call 301-739-7004.
