Dorothy V. DeHaven, 83

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Dorothy Virginia DeHaven, 83, of Martinsburg, died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008, at City Hospital.

Born Nov. 22, 1924, in Harrisonburg, Va., she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Cora Lee Jenkins Turner.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil A. DeHaven.

She retired from Handy and Harman after 22 years of service.

She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Women of the Moose, AARP and Retired Officers Association.

She is survived by two daughters, Barbara A. Gates of Salisbury, Md., and Susan E. DeHaven of Cape May, N.J.; one son, Robert P. DeHaven of Inwood, W.Va.; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and companion of 15 years, Glenn Shade of Ranson, W.Va.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Samuel H. Turner; and two sisters, Nellie Richmond and Thelma Hough.

Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg. The Rev. Al Clipp will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.

Lucille M. Sipes, 82



APRIL 25, 1926-AUG. 5, 2008

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Lucille Martha Sipes, 82, of McConnellsburg, died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008, at Woodland Retirement Center in Orbisonia, Pa.

Born April 25, 1926, in Detroit, she was the daughter of the late James and Inez Black Christian.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Daryl Sipes.

She retired from Sagner Clothing Co. in McConnellsburg, where she was a seamstress.

She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.

She also was a member of the Women's Auxillary of McConnellsburg American Legion Post 561.

She is survived by one son, Roger Sipes of McConnellsburg; three sisters, Shirley Largent of Berlin, Pa., Lillian Buterbaugh of McConnellsburg and Patricia Rockwell of Mercersburg, Pa.; one brother, Thomas Christian of McConnellsburg; one grandson; one granddaughter; three great-grandsons; and one great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by one son, Larry Sipes; and one brother, James Christian.

Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in McConnellsburg. The Rev. Hank Mansell will officiate. Burial will be in Union Cemetery.

Friends may call at the church one hour before the service.

Samuel L. Goetz, 85

STRATFORD, Conn. - Samuel L. Goetz, 85, of Stratford, died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008, at his home.

Born in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Charles C. and Rae E. Goetz.

He was a graduate of Cornell University.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

He was a member of Housatonic Yacht Club.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Morrison Goetz; children, Richard E. Goetz, Katherine Chabla and Robert Goetz, all of Stratford, Elizabeth Douglas of Cullen, Scotland, Susan Wargo of Orange, Conn., and Patricia M. Goetz of Milford, Conn.; four sisters, Rebecca Bills of Shelton, Conn., Anna C. Grave and Mildred Wilson, both of Hagers- town and Edythe Shook of Waynesboro, Pa.; and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Richard Goetz.

A memorial service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Stratford.

At his request, there will be no viewing.

Memorial donations may be made to Hole in the Wall Gang Fund, 555 Long Wharf Drive, New Haven, CT 06511.

Charles R. Gallagher, 64



MAY 18, 1944-AUG. 5, 2008

Mr. Charles Richard Gallagher, 64, of Hagerstown, Md., formerly of Meyersdale, Pa., passed away Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008, at Washington County Hospital with his children and granddaughter by his side.

Charles was born in Meyersdale, on May 18, 1944. He was the son of the late Robert T. and Marian J. (Kidner) Gallagher.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Donald E. Gallagher.

Charles is survived by his two children, David Gallagher of Las Vegas, Nev., and daughter, Marion Yarber of Starke, Fla.; grandchildren, Amber Anderson, Sean Anderson, Chelsea Anderson, Zachary Yarber, Haley Yarber, Shaylee Gallagher, Alexis Gallagher, Traci Gallagher and Donald Braddock; great-grandchildren, Hayden Petty and Taylor Anderson. He is also survived by his sister, Marilyn Severson of Phoenix, Ariz., and brother, Robert Gallagher of Meyersdale.

Charles was active in his church at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hagerstown.

He served in the U.S. Army.

He was the owner and operator of Charles's Mowing & Light Hauling.

Charles was active in the American Legion as a past commander for 40 years in Meyersdale and in Hagerstown. He loved riding his motorcycle and was a member of the Gold Wing Motorcycle Club as well as the Christian Motorcyclists Association.

A religious service will be held at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, Hagerstown, at 1 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 8, 2008, with the Rev. Robert McIntyre officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
