KANNAPOLIS, N.C. -- The Kannapolis Intimidators used two big innings to put away the Hagerstown Suns 10-3 on Tuesday night.

The Intimidators scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth off Suns starter Terrence Engles (3-4) to take a 6-0 lead.

After Hagerstown cut its deficit in half with a three-run sixth, Kannapolis padded its lead by scoring four in the eighth off Suns reliever Justin Phillabaum.

Brent Morel and Christian Marrero helped the Intimidators break the game open in the fifth. Morel hit a two-run triple and Marrero hit a two-run home run.

The Suns scored all their runs off Kannapolis starter Jason Rice (7-7) with one swing -- a three-run homer to right-center field off the bat of Tim Pahuta.

Robert Jacobsen and Jose Lozada each singled before Pahuta connected for his 14th homer of the year.

The Suns were held to five hits, and no player had more than one. Pahuta's was the only one that went for extra bases.

Marrero reached safely on all four of his plate appearances. Aside from his homer, he hit a double, walked twice and scored two runs.

Morel, Mark Fleisher and John Curtis also had two hits each for Kannapolis, which finished with 10 hits.
