Virginia M. Keyser, 94

SEPT. 22, 1913-AUG. 5, 2008

Virginia May Boward Keyser, 94, of Hagerstown, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008, at Homewood at Williamsport.

Born Monday, Sept. 22, 1913, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Grover Cleveland Boward and the late Rose May Turner Boward. Her husband, Adolph Avery Keyser, preceded her in death in 1975.

Virginia retired at age 78 from her business, The Variety Shoppe. She was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church, the American Legion Morris Frock Post 42 and Fountain Head Country Club.

She is survived by a son, Dr. Ronald Keyser Sr. and wife, Cathy of Hagerstown; seven granddaughters, Mary Kay Alford and husband, Dayton of Pikesville, Md., Mary Fran Jefferies and husband, Chris of Hagerstown, Mary Pat Andreas and husband, Roger of Ellicott City, Md., Kara Keyser Shore of Raleigh, N.C., Katie Keyser of Raleigh, N.C., Ashley Lewis of Hagerstown; four grandsons, Ronald E. Keyser Jr. and wife, Julia of Marriotsville, Md., Dax Zombro, Brooks Zombro and Alexander Zombro, all of Hagerstown; and 16 great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by two sisters, Louise Rosella Jones and Amelia Boward; and two infant grandsons, Bernard and Joseph Keyser.

Services will be held Friday, August 8, 2008, at 11:30 a.m., from the St. Ann Catholic Church, 1525 Oak Hill Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. C. Douglas Kenney officiating.

Family will receive friends at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, from 7 to 9 p.m., Thursday, August 7.

Interment will follow at the Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.

Linda L. Rowe, 63

JUNE 15, 1945-AUG. 1, 2008

Linda Lou Rowe, 63, of Hagerstown, died Friday, Aug. 1, 2008, at Washington County Hospital.

Born June 15, 1945, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late John Franklin Rowe Sr. and Sarah Mae Long Rowe.

She had worked as a commercial cleaner in Hagerstown.

She is survived by her husband, George William Rowe; two daughters, Sherry A. Carr and Misty D. Doolittle, both of Hagerstown; one son, Randy W. Rowe of Hagerstown; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary E. Sprankle, Anna M. Rowe and Nancy Eichelberger; one brother, John F. Rowe Jr.; and one grandson.

It was her request to be cremated.

Memorial services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel in Hagerstown. The Rev. Mark C. Mooney will officiate.

Evangeline M. Crunkleton, 100

MARCH 9, 1908-AUG. 4, 2008

Ms. Evangeline Marie Walters Crunkleton, 100, of Hagerstown, passed away peacefully, Aug. 4, 2008, surrounded by family in her home on Virginia Avenue in Hagerstown.

Marie was born in Franklin County, Pa., on March 9, 1908. She was the daughter of the late John E. and Ethel (Cleusman) Walters.

She was a member of Christ's Reformed Church in Hagerstown.

She worked as an operator for C&P Telephone Co. in Hagerstown for 30 years. She was a member of the C&P Telephone Pioneers as well as volunteered her time at the Western Maryland Center.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Paul E. Crunkleton, who passed away May 8, 1995.

She is survived by a daughter, Patricia C. Parks of Hagerstown; a sister, Alma Johnson also of Hagerstown; four grandchildren, Ann Cook and husband, Bill, Susan Parks, Lori Parks-Murphy and husband, Kevin, and Thomas Parks; and three great-grandchildren, Allyson Parks, Emily Cook and Julie Cook. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A graveside service will be held at Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 7, 2008 with the Rev. Gregg Meserole officiating. Interment will follow.

At the family's request, there will be no visitation.

Herbert L. Zeger, 87

JULY 8, 1921-AUG. 4, 2008

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Herbert L. Zeger, 87, of 7748 Browns Mill Road, died Monday, Aug. 4, 2008, at Shook Home in Chambersburg.

Born July 8, 1921, in Fort Loudon, Pa., he was the son of the late David S. and Ruth Neikirk Zeger.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Small Zeger, in 2003. They were married Feb. 12, 1944.

He was a 1940 graduate of Chambersburg High School. He received his bachelor's degree in 1947 from Grove City (Pa.) College.

He was the owner and operator of Antrim Building and Farm Supply in Greencastle, Pa., for 28 years, retiring in 2001.
