BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.VA. - Milestone Construction Services Inc. of Sterling, Va., was chosen Friday by the Morgan County Commission to construct the new Morgan County Courthouse.
"This is a good day in Morgan County," commission President Glen R. Stotler said.
The commission unanimously approved Milestone's bid of $10,448,000, which was the lowest of the eight bids received for the project.
"This is just what we wanted," Morgan County Administrator Bill Clark said.
Clark said the estimated cost for construction is $11.8 million.
The contract is contingent on the architect's determination that everything is in order, Stotler said. A letter of intent will be given to the construction company after architect Tom Potts of Silling Associates meets Monday with Milestone.
"I'm happy for the county," Potts said. "We need to get started."
Waynesboro (Pa.) Construction presented the second lowest bid of $10,715,239, and Deklewa Construction Services of the Pittsburgh area had the third lowest bid at $11,466,000, Potts said.
