BUNKER HILL, W.Va. - A Virginia man was shot early Friday at Vixens nightclub in Bunker Hill, according to a West Virginia State Police press release.

Alex Espinal, 22, of Alexandria, Va., was listed as stable Friday at Winchester (Va.) Medical Center, troopers said. A Winchester Medical Center spokesman declined to release Espinal's condition to The Herald-Mail, citing a privacy policy.

Espinal was shot in the chest, troopers said. He was found lying in front of the door at Sheetz at 7899 Winchester Ave. in Inwood, W.Va., troopers said.

Police responded to the shooting at 3:19 a.m.

Witnesses to the shooting said a man described as black and wearing a dark shirt and dark blue jean shorts, shot through the windshield of a black 2004 Kia, troopers said.

Officers found the Kia, which had a single gunshot hole in the driver's side windshield, troopers said.

The shooting suspect left Vixens in a green sport utility vehicle after the shooting and was seen traveling south on U.S. 11 toward Virginia, troopers said.

The incident Friday morning was the second early-morning shooting at a Berkeley County nightclub in less than two weeks.

Kenneth E. Waybright Jr. of Stephens City, Va., died two days after being shot July 20 about 3 a.m. in the parking lot of the Orioles Club just north of Martinsburg, W.Va.

No one has been charged in the homicide and the investigation is ongoing, Berkeley County Sheriff's Department Lt. Gary Harmison said Friday.

Harmison said Friday's shooting was not related to the July 20 incident, which he is investigating.

Anyone with information on Friday's shooting may call Trooper P.S. Kennedy at the West Virginia State Police's Martinsburg detachment at 304-267-0001 or send an e-mail to Callers may remain anonymous.
