Area Roundup - Lee takes Mid-Atlantic golf crown

MYERSVILLE, Md. - Smithsburg's Haeun Lee won her second title in the Mid-Atlantic PGA Junior Tour in the girls 15-18 age group with a 1-under-par 71 Thursday at Musket Ridge Golf Club, played over 5,330 yards.

Hagerstown's Aaron Staley finished second in the boys 12-13 group with a 1-over-par 73, which included four birdies, playing from 5,900 yards. Staley also has wins this year at Evergreen Country Club and the South Course at Bowling Green Country Club.

Williamsport's Andrew Duff finished tied for third in the boys 16-18 group with a 3-over-par 75, playing from 6,416 yards.

Western Amateur

BENTON HARBOR, Mich. - Clayton Rotz, of Chambersburg, Pa., missed the cut following the second day of the 106th Western Amateur at Point O' Woods Golf & Country Club.

Rotz shot an even-par 70 and finished with 148, missing the cut by six strokes.

W. Virginia women's Amateur

DANIELS, W.Va. - Former Saint James star Kim Eaton, of Shepherdstown, W.Va., carded a third straight 1-over-par 73 to finish second in the West Virginia Open at 3-over 219.


Morgantown's Nicolle Flood-Sawczyszyn won the tournament at 3-under 216.

Shepherd holds baseball tryouts

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Shepherd University baseball coach Wayne Riser annouced that the Rams will be holding open tryouts Aug. 20 at 4 p.m. at Fairfax Field.

The tryouts are open to all full-time Shepherd students. Registration begins at 3:30 pm.
