William H. Everitts, 78



JUNE 6, 1930-JULY 31, 2008

BIG POOL - William Hamilton Everitts, 78, of Big Pool, Md., passed away on Thursday, July 31, 2008, at Washington County Hospital.

Born June 6, 1930, in Big Pool, he was the son of the late Lewis Hamilton Everitt and Mary Louise Moore Everitt.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Carolyn R. Trumpower Everitts of Big Pool.

He was previously employed with Fairchild Industries for 10 years and retired in 1980 from Mack Trucks of Hagerstown after 17 years of service. He was the caretaker and a cemetery official of the Shantown Cemetery in Big Pool for years and had a lawn care business for more than 20 years.

He was a member of Orchard Ridge First Church of God of Hancock, UAW Local Union 171, the National Rifle Association and the A.C. Hunt Club. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and birdwatcher.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Gregory H. Everitts and wife, Sherry, of Big Pool and Jeffery L. Everitts and wife, Arlene, of Williamsport; one sister, Mary E. Bishop of Hagerstown; and four grandsons, Christopher, Jeremy, Scott and Brian Everitts.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert F. Everitt.

Services will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at Orchard Ridge First Church of God. The Rev. Jeffrey Hawbaker will officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Donald Edwin Thompson Funeral Home Inc., 13607 National Pike, Clear Spring on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. For the convenience of friends, you may visit after 1 p.m. on Monday.

Janet G. Mills, 77

BIG POOL - Janet Geraldine Vanorsdale Mills, 77, of Big Pool, died Wednesday, July 30, 2008, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Dec. 20, 1930, in Pierre, Md., she was the daughter of the late Harry Oliver and Emma A. Vanorsdale.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Charles Edward "Bud" Mills, in 2005.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Parkhead United Methodist Church in Big Pool.

She is survived by two sons, Charles E. Mills Jr. and Phillip E. Mills, both of Clear Spring; four sisters, Margaret E. Stotler and Emma J. Bishop, both of Hancock, Nina Widmyer of Berkeley Springs, W.Va. and Mary L. Robinson of Martinsburg, W.Va.; two brothers, Donald O. Vanorsdale of Hancock and Melvin E. Vanorsdale of Warfordsburg, Pa.; three grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Rosalea Divelbiss and Wanda Mellott; and one brother, William Vanorsdale.

Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Donald Edwin Thompson Funeral Home in Clear Spring. The Rev. Terry and Wanda Clark will officiate. Burial will be in Parkhead Cemetery in Big Pool.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

John V. Kiesler, 75



AUG. 3, 1932-JULY 25, 2008

COLUMBIA, Md. - John Valentine Kiesler, 75, of Columbia, died Friday, July 25, 2008, at Lorien Nursing Home in Columbia, of diabetes.

Born Aug. 3, 1932, in Louisville, Ky., he was the son of the late John and Mildred Kiesler of Louisville.

He was a personnel management specialist for the Social Security Administration in Baltimore.

He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Bellarmine University and a master's degree in Education from Butler University.

He was active in his church, St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church at Wilde Lake Interfaith Center.

He enjoyed his grandchildren, was an avid walker and a fan of Notre Dame football and railroading.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Stratman Kiesler; two daughters, Margaret Schlotterbeck and her husband, Larry, of Falling Waters, W.Va. and Christine Kiesler of Mamaroneck, N.Y.; two sons, Jack Kiesler and his wife, Kelley, of Crofton, Md. and Paul Kiesler of Moscow, Russia; two brothers, Thomas Kiesler and his wife, Gina, of Rockville, Md., and Michael Kiesler and his wife, Barbara, of St. Louis; three grandchildren, Lauren and Ryan Kiesler, and Christine Duncan.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Kiesler of Richmond, Va.

Services will be Monday, Aug. 4, 2008, at noon at St. John's, Wilde Lake Interfaith Center, 10431 Twin Rivers Road, Columbia, Md. Monsignor Richard Tillman will officiate. Burial will be in Columbia Memorial Park.




Fred L. Palmer, 79



JUNE 3, 1929-JULY 31, 2008

Fred Luther Palmer, 79, of 10021 Pleasant View Drive, Hagerstown, Md., died peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Thursday, July 31, 2008, at Washington County Hospital.

Born June 3, 1929, in Sharpsburg, Md., he was the son of the late Fenton and Maggie Martz Palmer.
