Part of Black Rock Road to close temporarily

August 01, 2008

Black Rock Road at the Interstate 70 bridge will be closed for up to two weeks starting Aug. 4, Washington County spokesman Norman Bassett said Thursday.

Ahern & Associates Inc. has been contracted by the Maryland State Highway Administration to replace the westbound I-70 bridge over Black Rock Road near the intersection of Black Rock, Ridenour and Stottlemeyer roads.

A temporary bridge has been built in the median of I-70 that will carry traffic while the westbound side of the bridge is demolished and replaced.

Ahern & Associates said Black Rock Road will be reopened for about four to six weeks after the demolition is finished, at which time it will be closed again for further work.
