Legends rally in eighth to topple Suns

July 30, 2008

The Hagerstown Suns found out that it doesn't take long for things to go from good to bad.

About one out.

The Suns held a 1-0 lead until Lexington rallied for three runs after there were two outs and none on base in the eighth inning on Tuesday, allowing the Legends to post for a 3-1 victory.

Brian Pellegrini capped the rally with a two-run home run to left - his 17th of the season - off reliever Jamie Lehman to break a 1-1 tie.

Lehman got the first two outs in the eighth before Matt Cusick ignited the Legends with a double to left. Eric Taylor tied the game with a single to right to set up Pellegrini's two-run blast.

Lexington reliever Mike Koons (1-4) took the victory while Fernando Abad worked the ninth for his second save.

The Suns scored in the third off Lexington starter Leandro Cespedes when designated hitter Jake Rogers led off with a single and took second on a passed ball before scoring on Jose Lozada's double to left-center field.

The Suns' loss ruined a solid debut by starter Tom Milone, who pitched six scoreless innings.

The Suns (18-20) finished with six hits, led by catcher Travis Reagan with two doubles.
