DAVIDSON, N.C. -- The Hagerstown PONY 13 'A' All-Stars fell 15-4 to host Davidson-Cornelius in the championship game of the East Zone Tournament on Tuesday.

Davidson-Cornelius advanced to the World Series in California.

Bricker misses cut at Pennsylvania Amateur

BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- Chad Bricker, of Waynesboro, Pa., and a 2006 champion in the Pennsylvania Amateur Golf Championship, mised the cut in the 95th edition Tuesday.

Bricker had a second-round 3-over-par 74 and finished at 152. He was 11 strokes behind Chris Reedman of Makefield Highlands Club, who shot a 1-under-par 70 and was the only player in the field under par at 141.

Chambersburg, Pa., players Mark Yost (83-166) and Chip Wolfe (80-160) each missed the cut.

Maryland Amateur Links

IJAMSVILLE, Md. -- Ken Lampard, of Beaver Creek Country Club, shot rounds of 75 and 76 for a 151 and tied for eighth place in the sixth Maryland Amateur Public Links Championship, conducted by the Maryland State Golf Association.

Lampard finished 7-over par in the one-day, 36-hole test at Whiskey Creek Golf Club.

Brian Crabtree, of Fairfield, Pa., also playing out of Beaver Creek, finished at 13-over 157 and in a tie for 26th.

Ted Coon, out of The University of Maryland Golf Club, shot a 2-over 146 to lead the field of 69 players.

West Virginia Women's Amateur

DANIELS, W.Va. -- Shepherdstown, W.Va., was represented by two players in the top three following the first round of the 85th West Virginia Women's Amateur, played at The Resort at Glade Springs.

Former Saint James prep star Kim Eaton was in second place with a 35-38 for a 1-over-par 73 and Karen Hacker Kinnett was third with a 37-37--74.

Nicolle Flood-Sawczyszyn, of Morgantown, W.Va., was the leader with an even-par 72 with two rounds to follow.

McCleary hits hole-in-one

Richard McCleary recorded a hole-in-one at Fountain Head Country Club on the 155-yard 16th hole, using a 7-iron. He was playing with Art Staymates and Bob Fennel.

Hedgesville season tickets

HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. -- Season tickets for Hedgesville's five home football games will be on sale beginning Aug. 4, with 2007 season-ticket holders being able to reserve tickets until Aug. 8. Hero's Reward to race at Penn National

GRANTVILLE, Pa. -- Hero's Reward is regarded as one of the top two or three turf sprinters in the nation.

Thoroughbred racing fans will get a chance to see Hero's Reward in action Friday night when he meets 11 rivals in the 36th running of the $100,000 Pennsylvania Governor's Cup Handicap at Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course.

Rouse The Cat, winner of the James McSorley Stakes at Monmouth Park on July 13, multiple stakes-winner Hesa Big Star and California-based Indian Ashton are other top contenders.
