July 28, 2008

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The McDonald's Family Restaurants of Greater Washington, D.C., announced that Justin Kauffman, a recent North Hagerstown High School grad, received the 2008 McDonald's National Employee Scholarship for Maryland.

The annual national McDonald's program, which recognizes and honors top high school student employees from each of the 50 U.S. states, awarded Justin a $1,000 scholarship to use at the university of his choice.

Justin plans to attend Penn State Mont Alto in the fall.

Recipients were selected for their accomplishments as McDonald's student employees who also excel in their academic studies, serve their greater communities and work hard to deliver an outstanding experience for McDonald's customers.

Justin has worked at McDonald's for two years and recently was promoted to swing manager at the Hagerstown Commons McDonald's.

Since the program's inception, McDonald's has given more than $500,000 in scholarships.
