Pa. roadwork starting today

July 28, 2008

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Road repairs have been scheduled for Pa. 997 south of Waynesboro, as well as almost six miles of Mont Alto Road. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has a $2.3 million contract with Valley Quarries of Chambersburg, Pa., for the efforts. The work on Pa. 997 is scheduled to start today on slightly more than one mile of the road from Welty Road to the state line. Crews will repair sections of the roadway base and shoulders, installing guardrails, milling the old surface, resurfacing the roads and painting new lines. Their work might reduce traffic to a single lane of travel. The entire project is scheduled to be finished by November.
