Hagerstown PONY 14 'A' All-Stars win two games

BOARDMAN, Ohio -- The Hagerstown PONY 14 'A' All-Stars stayed in the winners' bracket with a pair of victories Friday in the East Zone West Region Tournament, defeating Tuscaloosa, Ohio, 12-2 and Tri-T American of Youngstown, Ohio, 12-2.

Ryan Robinson struck out nine for Hagerstown in the opening game, while Aaron Stoner had two hits, including a two-run home run.

Drew DeShong added a three-run home run, while Austin Yost, Jake Bachtell and Robinson each had two hits.

Hagerstown continued its strong hitting in the second game of the day with Stoner, Brock Heiston and DeShong each homering and Zach Schreiber adding three hits and three RBIs.

Hagerstown next plays Chambersburg at noon Sunday.

Hawks earn academic honors

Jordan Atha, Amy Baer, Casey Bauer, Dustin Adams and Ryan Shifler of the Hagerstown Community College track and field team were recently honored as 2008 NJCAA Academic All-Americans.
