Antrim Township looks to fill municipal authority vacancy

July 25, 2008

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Antrim Township is taking resums from residents interested in serving on the Township Municipal Authority and filling the seat recently vacated by B.J. Roberts Jr.

Roberts formally resigned from the board on July 9 for health reasons, but his resignation came on the heels of a board discussion of his early departure from a meeting.

Curtis Myers, chairman of the Board of Supervisors, brought the issue to the table on July 8.

On Tuesday, the board formally accepted Roberts' resignation and authorized staff to solicit interest until Aug. 5.

Solicitor John Lisko said the law does not dictate a specific time frame for filling the position, Roberts' resignation leaves a four-member board that theoretically could result in tie votes.

Myers said the board hopes to have a qualified candidate to consider by its next meeting on Aug. 12.

Letters of interest or brief resums may be mailed to Antrim Township Supervisors, P.O. Box 130, Greencastle, PA 17225, or delivered to the municipal office at 10655 Antrim Church Road by Aug. 5 at 4:30 p.m. Office hours at Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The authority oversees the township's water and sewer issues.
