Little Heiskell bridge club posts results

raises money for charity

Eleven pairs competed Friday, July 18, in an American Contract Bridge League-wide charity game during a meeting of the Little Heiskell Duplicate Bridge Club. Dick and Lois Taylor finished first in Flight A with a 65.74-percent game. Debbie and Scott Kiser were second in Flight A and first in Flights B and C with 62.50 percent, and Ann Lebherz and Bob Osburn were third in Flight A and second in Flight B with 61.11 percent. Bill and Madeline Davis came in fourth in Flight A and third in Flight B with 58.85 percent.

The Little Heiskell Duplicate Bridge Club meets at 7:30 p.m. Fridays at the American Legion on Northern Avenue. All bridge players are welcome. For more information, call 301-797-4627.

In addition, the club conducted its sixth annual charity two-session Swiss team game on Sunday, July 20, to raise money for Food Resources, Inc.

Twelve four-person teams competed in the event. Dick and Lois Taylor, with John and Selene Swanson, finished first in the A stratum. Frank and Anne Carden, Willa Garner, and Denise Clow came in second in Flight A, and Bill and Madeline Davis, Bob Back, and Kathy Goss were third in Flight A. Tied for fourth in Flight A and first in Flight B were the teams of Vince and Barbara Schoeck, Tom Janus, and David Abuhove with Tim and Hilda Sullivan, Helen Swanson, and Charlie Crum. Lowell Phillips, Rob Robey, and Sym and Ray Gallucci were third in Flight B, and Peg Abercrombie, Jean Hollyday, Fred Lamm, and Steve Rudolph were first in Flight C.

Additionally, Peg Abercrombie received the final master points she needed to become an ACBL Life Master.

With the proceeds from this charity game, Food Resources will have an additional 7,000 pounds of food available for distribution in the Tri-State area.
