Greenville shuts down Suns' bats

GREENVILLE, S.C. - Chad Povich and Robert McClain combined to hold Hagerstown to five hits and the Greenville Drive defeated the Suns for the second straight night, 7-1 on Tuesday.

Povich (7-3) allowed three hits and the Suns' only run in six innings while striking out three. McClain earned a three-inning save, allowing two hits and a walk.

Hagerstown took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Mark Gildea walked, took second on a wild pitch and scored on Jeses Valdez's single.

Greenville answered with two runs in the bottom half. Kristopher Negron doubled and scored on Carlos Fernandez-Oliva's single. Jered Stanley added an RBI single later in the frame.

Oscar Tejeda singled and scored on a groundout to give the Drive a 3-1 lead in the second. Tejeda singled and scored on Negron's single in the fourth to make it 4-1, and David Marks homered in the sixth to make it 5-1.

Stanley homered in the eighth, and Tejeda walked and came around to score on a wild pitch later in the inning to cap the scoring.

Suns starter Colton Willems (5-7) worked five innings and allowed seven hits and four runs - three earned - while striking out five.
