HAGERSTOWN -- The City of Hagerstown is seeking nominations for the most beautiful homes and businesses in the city.
City Planner Alex Rohrbaugh said the Highlight Hagerstown Awards, sponsored by the Hagerstown Beautification Advisory Committee, were created last year to show appreciation for home and business owners who have taken the extra step to beautify their properties.
The committee is seeking nominations to recognize beautification efforts including facade, landscaping and painting improvements, Rohrbaugh said. Organizations such as churches also are welcome to participate.
"(The awards) are for people in the city who think a certain property sticks out," he said.
Residents may nominate themselves or someone else before Aug. 1 by picking up a form at City Hall, 1 E. Franklin St., or by visiting the city's Web site at www.hagerstownmd.org, Rohrbaugh said.
