Lorraine R. Seal, 74

WILLIAMSPORT - Lorraine Rhodes Seal, 74, of 128 N. Conococheague St., died Friday, July 18, 2008, at Golden Living Center, Hagerstown.

Born Dec. 16, 1933, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Charles Hill and Velma Lenora Rhodes Ardinger.

She was a manager with On Track Video, Williamsport, until its closing.

She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Hagerstown.

She is survived by her husband, Richard G. Seal, whom she married Dec. 16, 1983; nieces; and cousins.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Robert D. Rhodes.

Graveside services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport. The Rev. Quentin Fleming will officiate.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, Williamsport, which will be open after 9 a.m. that day.

Harry Wilson "Bummie" Bumgarner, 86

Harry Wilson "Bummie" Bumgarner, 86, formerly of Funkstown, Md., and Kemps Mill, Md., died Sunday, July 20, 2008, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg, W.Va.

Born Feb. 9, 1922, in Huntersville, N.C., he was the son of the late Carl D. and Lena Hall Bumgarner.

He was preceded in death by his wife, whom he married Oct. 9, 1946, Margaret "Peg" Wiesner (Finfrock) Bumgarner, was married for 46 years until her death in March 1992.

He served in the U.S. Army with the 43rd Infantry Division (Thunderbirds) during World War II. He fought in Sicily, Italy, Southern France and the Rhineland Campaign. Prior to WWII, he served as a radio instructor in the U.S. Army in Honolulu, Scofield Barracks, HW and Fort Bragg, N.C.

He retired in 1990 after 40 years of being a salesman with Continental Baking Company, Malter Chemical Company and Antietam Paper Company.

He was of the Lutheran faith, a former member of Zion Lutheran Church in Williamsport, Md.

He was a lifetime and founding member of Dixon-Troxell American Legion Post 211 in Funkstown. Until his death, he was the oldest living past commander of Post 211. He was also a member of VFW Post 1936.

He was a member and Past Master of Medairy Lodge 140 AF&AM in Williamsport. Also a member of the Tall Cedars of Lebanon Hagerstown Forest 95.

He is survived by two daughters, Sharon Trimble of Columbia, S.C., and Katherine Hose and husband, Edward, of Sharpsburg, Md.; two sons, Frederick Bumgarner and wife, Virginia, of Chesapeake Beach, Md., and Mark Bumgarner and wife, Nina, of State College, Pa.; one brother, Douglas Bumgarner and wife, Janet, of Catawba, N.C.; one sister, Jean Flowers of Taylorsville, N.C.; four granddaughters, Kimberly Gollach, Kelli Bumgarner, Kate Bumgarner and Sarah Bumgarner; one grandson, Matthew Bumgarner; and two great-grandchildren, Matthew Gollach and Lindsey Gollach.

He was preceded in death by three sisters and six brothers.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, Md. The Rev. Louis L. Emerick will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m., where Medairy Lodge 140 AF&AM will have a memorial service at 7 p.m.

Graveside military honors will be provided by American Legion Post 42.

Evelyn V. Eckenrode, 88

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Evelyn V. Smith Eckenrode, 88, died Saturday, July 19, 2008, at Falling Spring Nursing Center.

Born Dec. 5, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Sarah Etter Harmon.

She is survived by one sister, Ethel Sherbin of Terrance, Calif.; several nieces and nephews; and a special companion, Rueben Horst of Chambersburg.

Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, Chambersburg. Burial will be in Norland Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday at noon at the funeral home.

Albert R. Evy, 97

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Albert Ray Evy, 97, of Martinsburg, died Saturday, July 19, 2008, at Winchester (Va.) Medical Center.

Born Sept. 17, 1910, in Mount Jackson, Va., he was the son of the late Joseph S. Evy and Sarah L. Jones Evy.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Dorothy Aikens Evy.

He retired from Martin Marietta.

He was a member of Winchester Avenue Christian Church.
