Md. man found shot in car in Frederick County, dies at hospital

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) - Maryland state police say they are investigating the death of a man found shot after his car ran off a Frederick County road early Sunday.

State police say the man has not been positively identified, but is believed to be a 27-year-old from Montgomery County.

Troopers responding to the scene of a single-car crash at the intersection of Hanover Drive and Ballenger Creek Pike shortly before 1:30 a.m. found a man with a gunshot wound to the upper torso behind the wheel of a car that had jumped the curb at the intersection, police said.

The man was flown by a Maryland State Police helicopter to Washington County Hospital, where he later died, police said.

State police say witnesses say they saw two people running from the area. Frederick County deputies later questioned two individuals, but they have not been charged.

State police say the victim was driving a vehicle owned by his girlfriend, who lives in Frederick. State police say the victim was at a party shortly before the shooting.

The car the victim was driving was described as a silver, four-door Mercury Marquis, police said. Anyone with information or who may have seen this vehicle may contact Maryland State Police in Frederick at 301-600-4151.
