Motorcycle, Ford Expedition collide

July 19, 2008

A Keedysville man was taken to Washington County Hospital Friday evening after his motorcycle was involved in an accident on Halfway Boulevard near the entrance to Martin L. "Marty" Snook Park, Washington County Sheriff's deputies said.

Deputy Corey McCarthy said Earl Richard Lowe Jr., 38, of 18820 Planters Lane, was riding his motorcycle at 8:03 p.m. when a Ford Expedition pulled out from Oak Valley Drive - directly across from the park entrance.

Lowe's motorcycle struck the Ford on the passenger side, McCarthy said. While no injuries were obvious, McCarthy said Lowe went to the hospital as a precaution.

The driver of the Ford, Kerri E. Bennett, 35, of 17706 Red Oak Drive, was charged with failure to yield the right of way, McCarthy said. She was uninjured.
