I-81 work could slow traffic at Pa./Md. line

July 18, 2008

Starting Monday and continuing through Thursday, from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m., motorists might experience delays traveling in the vicinity of the on- and off-ramps of Interstate 81 at Exit 1 for Pa. 163 and at the Welcome Center in Antrim Township, Franklin County.

Maryland State Police in Washington County said the delays might affect interstate travel across the state line into Maryland and cautions drivers to be alert.

Weather permitting, there will be nighttime and early-morning single-lane traffic restrictions as paving crews mill and resurface the northbound I-81 deceleration and acceleration lanes and the on- and off-ramps and resurface the southbound I-81 acceleration lane and the PA 163 on-ramp to southbound I-81.

Drivers are asked to slow down when driving through the work zone for their safety as well as the safety of the workers.
