July 18, 2008

A Keedysville man was taken to Washington County Hospital Friday night after his motorcycle was involved in an accident on Halfway Boulevard near the entrance to Martin L. "Marty" Snook Memorial Park, Washington County Sheriff's deputies said.

Earl Richard Lowe Jr., 38, of 18820 Planters Lane, was riding his motorcycle at 8:03 p.m. when a Ford Expedition pulled out from Oak Valley Drive, across from the park entrance, Deputy Corey McCarthy said

Lowe's motorcycle struck the Ford on the passenger side, McCarthy said. No injuries were obvious, but Lowe went to the hospital as a precaution, McCarthy said.

The driver of the Ford, Kerri E. Bennett, 35, of 17706 Red Oak Drive, was charged with failure to yield the right of way, McCarthy said. She was not injured.
