July 18, 2008

Faison, a retail development company that wants to build a shopping center on about 140 acres of land just southeast of the intersection at U.S. 40 and Interstate 70 near Hagerstown, announced Thursday that Costco Wholesale Club and Kerasotes ShowPlace Theatres have signed letters of intent to anchor the development.

Although the preliminary site and engineering plans have been submitted to local government officials, the development, known as Hagerstown Gateway, has not been approved.

Faison also wants to build a sporting goods store, a large-scale supermarket and a home improvement store on the site, a Faison news release said.
