Tractor-trailer snags utility lines in Martinsburg

July 17, 2008

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - A tractor-trailer snagged overhead utility lines on Edwin Miller Boulevard near the Aikens Center on Wednesday evening, dispatchers said.

A utility pole was also snapped in the 5:52 p.m. accident and some people were left without power, dispatchers said.

Crews were still working at the scene at 9 p.m. and Berkeley County Sheriff's Department reserve officers directed traffic as Allegheny Power, Comcast and Verizon crews worked, dispatchers said.

It appears the height of the tractor-trailer and not problems with the lines attributed to the incident, a 911 dispatcher said.

No one was hurt.
