Washington County couple sentenced to prison on drug charges

A Washington County husband and wife were sentenced Tuesday to serve time in prison for possession with the intent to distribute narcotics.

Harold Aaron Pope, 27, and Marisa Kristine Pope, 24, of 18775 Diller Drive, pleaded guilty to the drug charges, Washington County Circuit Court records show.

Authorities have said they found 432 grams of cocaine inside the couple's home near Hagerstown Regional Airport, as well as marijuana, a Ruger 9 mm semiautomatic pistol, electronic scales and a bottle of Inositol, a substance considered to be a "cutting agent" for cocaine. The cocaine had an estimated street value of more than $17,000, according to published reports

The Popes each were charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana, weapons violations relating to firearms and drug trafficking, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Harold Pope was sentenced to 12 years in prison with all but 6 years suspended.

Marisa Pope was sentenced to 20 years with all but 10 years suspended. She also pleaded guilty Tuesday to a violation of probation in a previous drug case involving marijuana. She was sentenced to two years in prison for the violation.
