Family movie set for Friday

The Washington County Recreation Department will host a special family movie night Friday.

The featured movie will be "Dennis the Menace" and will be shown at Doub's Woods Park in the arts pavilion, starting at 8:30 p.m.

Those attending should bring lawn chairs, blankets and snacks. Please use the South End Shopping Center entrance. The event is free.

Monster truck to be on display

The monster truck, "Mopar Magic" will be on display today in Valley Mall's front parking lot.

The monster truck, which is a part of the U.S. Hot Rod Monster Jam, will be on display from 4 to 6 p.m. Get a chance to meet the driver and get an autograph. There will be chances to win a pair of tickets to see the Monster Jam this weekend at Hagerstown Speedway. For more information, call the guest services center at the mall at 301-582-0700.


Music by the Lake continues

Join in the live music and fun at Hagerstown City Park off Virginia Avenue for the Music by the Lake series. The Annapolis Bluegrass Coalition will perform Saturday at 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Motorcycle ride to benefit shelter

The Dave Alderson Memorial Ride to benefit the Humane Society of Washington County will be Sunday. It will begin at Harley-Davidson and Buell of Williamsport. Registration is at 10 a.m. and the ride will get under way at 11 a.m. The ride will end at Camp Harding Park. Registration costs $20, which includes the ride, a custom designed T-shirt, lunch, music by a DJ, and raffle prize chances. The first 100 registered riders receive a specially designed ride in. The cost to register the day of the event will be $25, which includes the ride, lunch, music and raffle prizes. T-shirts will be on a first come, first served basis. Colonial Family Fun Day planned

Gather the family and join in a day of colonial games for families at the Jonathan Hager House and Museum in Hagerstown City Park.

The Colonial Family Fun Day will be Saturday, Aug. 9, starting at 1 p.m. Get a chance to learn about the pastimes of families on the frontier and compete against other families in a fun filled field day.
