Police search for man charged with assault of Pa. trooper

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Franklin County (Pa.) Crime Solvers is offering a reward of up to $2,000 for information leading to the arrest of a Shippensburg man charged with aggravated assault on a police officer.

Jerry Lee Ott, 45, allegedly struck a Pennsylvania State Police trooper on the head during a traffic stop Sunday night.

Police said Ott, who might be armed, has family and friends in the Shippensburg area.

Trooper Matthew Hudak stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation near exit 23 of Interstate 81 at 10:22 p.m., police said. The driver of the vehicle got out and ran, police said.

As Hudak ran after him, the man struck Hudak and got away, police said.

Hudak was not seriously injured.
