ATM machine, cash, air-conditioning unit stolen from Legion hall in Greencastle



GREENCASTLE, Pa. -- Someone took an ATM machine, cash and an air-conditioning unit from the American Legion, 254 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle Pa., police said.

The burglary happened at about 9:30 a.m. Sunday, officers said in a news release.




Bicycle stolen in Greencastle



GREENCASTLE, Pa. -- A bicycle was taken Sunday, Greencastle Pa., police said. The bike was purple, with silver writing, officers said in a news release.




Washington County deputies respond to calls



The Washington County Sheriff's Department responded Monday to the following incidents, according to Lt. Mark Knight:

· At 4:30 a.m., breaking and entering was reported at Mid-Atlantic Protel on Massey Boulevard. Cash was taken and a window was damaged.

· At 6:30 a.m., theft was reported in the 11000 block of Greenberry Road. A bicycle was taken.

· At 11:45 a.m., malicious destruction of property was reported in the area of Keep Tryst Road. The window was broken out of a vehicle.

· At 2:15 p.m., malicious destruction of property was reported at Act II in the 13000 block of Pennsylvania Avenue. The building was spraypainted.

· At 4 p.m., theft was reported at Fahrney-Keedy Nursing Home in Boonsboro. A debit card and cash were taken.

· At 5:30 p.m., breaking and entering was reported in the 20000 block of Gapland Road. A computer and prescription drugs were taken.

· At 5:45 p.m., breaking and entering was reported in the 19000 block of Marble Quarry Road. Prescription medication was taken.

· At 8:25 p.m., theft from a motor vehicle was reported in the area of the Valley Mall parking lot. A window was broken out of a vehicle and a GPS unit was taken.




Reward offered for info on assault of Pa. police officer



FRANKLIN COUNTY, Pa. -- Crime Solvers are offering a reward of up to $2,000 for information leading to the arrest of a man charged in connection with the assault of a police officer.

Trooper Matthew Hudak stopped a vehicle Sunday for a traffic violation near Exit 23 of Interstate 81 at 10:22 p.m., police said. The driver of the vehicle got out and ran off, police said.

As Hudak ran after him, police said the man struck Hudak in the head and was able to get away.

Police said they have issued an arrest warrant for Jerry Lee Ott, 45, address unavailable, on a charge of aggravated assault.




Police say Hagerstown man fired rifle during confrontation



Police say a Hagerstown man fired a rifle early Saturday during a confrontation on Eldridge Drive, according to Washington County District Court records.

James Michael Devine, 56, of the 900 block of Eldridge Drive, was charged with three counts each of first-degree assault, second-degree assault and reckless endangerment, court records show. He also was charged with the Hagerstown municipal infraction of discharging a weapon within city limits.

Devine was released on his own recognizance after a bond review hearing Monday, court records show. A preliminary hearing in the case is scheduled for Aug. 7 at 1 p.m. in Washington County District Court.

Shippensburg man charged with striking Pa. trooper



SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Pennsylvania State Police were still looking Monday night for a Shippensburg man in connection with an assault on a trooper Sunday night.

Trooper Matthew Hudak stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation near Exit 23 of Interstate 81 at 10:22 p.m., police said. The driver of the vehicle got out and ran off, police said.

As Hudak ran after him, police said the man struck Hudak in the head and was able to get away.

Police said they have issued an arrest warrant for Jerry Lee Ott, 45, address unavailable, on a charge of aggravated assault.

Knoxville man flown to Shock Trauma Center after fight



JEFFERSON, Md. - A Knoxville, Md., man was flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore Sunday after he was hit in the head with a rock during a fight, the Frederick County Sheriff's Department said in a news release.

Five other men were injured in the fight, which police say involved more than 10 young adults, according to the release. The fight erupted between 2 and 3 a.m. at a party outside a home in the 3600 block of Jefferson Pike, deputies said.

One man was admitted to Frederick Memorial Hospital and four others were treated and released, deputies said.

No arrests have been made, deputies said Monday. Anyone with information about the fight may contact Detective Jeff Norris at 301-600-3680.




Frederick County Sheriff's Dept. investigating burglary at Adventure Park



NEW MARKET, Md. - The Frederick County Sheriff's Department was investigating a Monday morning burglary at Adventure Park in which someone broke into an office and stole cash, according to a Sheriff's Department news release.

The burglary happened overnight, possibly between midnight and 4 a.m., deputies said. A surveillance camera captured a photo of one of the burglars, who was completely covered in camouflage clothing, deputies said.
