Dems, Dougherty holding events

Western Maryland's Democrats are scheduled to gather Saturday for a "Unity Picnic."

It will be at AMVETS Valley Memorial Post 9, 408 W. Green St. in Middletown, from 3 to 6 p.m.

Jennifer Dougherty, the Democrats' candidate in the 6th District race for Congress, is expected to attend.

Dougherty also is holding what she's calling the "Great American Hot Dog Chase" in Washington County on July 26.

Hot dogs, veggie dogs and refreshments will be served at the north pavilion at Hagerstown's City Park, between the band shell and the museum, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

She is holding similar hot dog events in each of the eight counties in the 6th District.

No reservations are needed for the Jennifer Dougherty event.


Fouche to have picnic

Washington County Board of Education candidate Meredith Fouche is holding a fundraising picnic Aug. 23 at Shafer Park in Boonsboro.

The picnic will run from 5 to 9 p.m., with dinner served at 6 p.m.

Tickets cost $30 for adults, $10 for children 4 to 18 years old and are free for children younger than 4 years old.
