Washington County Sheriff's Dept. responds to calls



The Washington County Sheriff's Department recently responded to the following incidents, according to Lt. Mark Knight:

Friday:

· At 9: 45 a.m., malicious destruction of property was reported at Old Town Laundry in Williamsport. A machine was broken into and $30 in quarters was taken.

· At 2:10 p.m., malicious destruction of property was reported in the 16000 block of Broadfording Road. A storm door was damaged.

· At 2:45 p.m., breaking and entering was reported in the 16000 block of McGregor Drive. A home was broken into and a door was damaged.

· At 4:15 p.m., theft from a motor vehicle was reported at the Interstate 70 Park-N-Ride. A catalytic converter was taken.

· At 5 p.m., malicious destruction of property was reported in the area of Cemetery Street in Funkstown. A vehicle was keyed.

· At 7:15 p.m., theft was reported in the 11000 block of Robinwood Drive. A credit card was taken and used.

Saturday

· At 12:15 a.m., theft from a motor vehicle was reported in the 11000 block of Coffman Avenue. A registration plate was taken from a vehicle.

· At 5:45 a.m., theft was reported in the 10000 block of Bridge Court. A camera was taken from the residence.

· At 10:30 a.m., malicious destruction of property was reported in the 17000 block of Sterling Road. A windshield was damaged.

· At 11 a.m., theft was reported in the 13000 block of Gordon Circle. A Diamond back bike was stolen.

· At 6 p.m., malicious destruction of property was reported at the Laundry Center in Williamsport. A soda machine and laundry machine were damaged.

· At 8:30 p.m., theft was reported in the 5000 block of Western Pike, A 24-inch Mongoose bicycle was taken from a yard.

Sunday:

· At 1 a.m., malicious destruction of property was reported in the 2000 block of Back Road. Windows were broken out of a home.

· At 1:20 a.m., malicious destruction of property was reported at Shawley's Hardware in the 17000 block of Lappans Road. The window to a business was damaged.

· At 2:30 a.m., breaking and entering was reported in the 19000 block of Shepherdstown Pike. Someone tried to take an empty safe.

· At 10:30 a.m., theft was reported in the 14000 block of Pennersville Road. A large Koi fish was taken.

· At 12 p.m., malicious destruction of property was reported in the 13000 block of Cathedral Avenue. Someone slashed tires on two vehicles.

· At 5 p.m., theft was reported in the 19000 block of Lincoln Avenue.

· At 7 p.m., theft from a motor vehicle was reported in the 11000 block of Day Break Court. The front registration plate was stolen.




Knoxville fire causes $25,000 in damage to 2007 Dodge pickup



KNOXVILLE - Firefighters responded Sunday night to a fire on Md. 67 in the area of U.S. 340 in Knoxville, Washington County, the Maryland State Fire Marshal said.

A passenger reported the fire, which destroyed a 2007 Dodge pickup truck, the fire marshal said in a news release.

The fire caused $25,000 in damage to the vehicle.

Someone set the fire, the fire marshal said.




Vehicle stolen in McConnellsburg is wrecked



McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - A stolen vehicle was wrecked Sunday night in the 12300 block of Lincoln Highway in Ayr Township, Pennsylvania State Police said.

The Ford Focus was stolen from the BI-LO parking lot in McConnellsburg, troopers said in a news release.

Someone wrecked the car on Lincoln Highway and left the scene of the accident, troopers said.

Teen injured in Ayr Township crash



McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - A 16-year-old boy was injured Friday evening in a traffic accident on Meadow Grounds Road in Ayr Township, Pa., Pennsylvania State Police said.

The boy was on a motorcycle traveling west on Meadow Grounds Road when he lost control of the motorcyle and slid into the path of a vehicle traveling east, troopers said.

The boy was flown to Altoona (Pa.) Hospital for treatment of his injuries, troopers said.

Ford van stolen in Greencastle recovered in Va.



GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Police are investigating the theft of a 2000 Ford Econoline van from Graphics Universal at 25 Commerce Ave. in Greencastle over the weekend, Pennsylvania State Police said in a news release.

The van, with Pennsylvania license plate YJB3089, was taken Saturday or Sunday and recovered Sunday after it was abandoned in Fairfax, Va., police said. Anyone with information may contact Pennsylvania State Police in Chambersburg at 717-264-5161.




No one injured in U.S. 11 accident in Antrim Township



GREENCASTLE, Pa. - No one was injured in a Saturday morning crash on U.S. 11 in Antrim Township, Pennsylvania State Police said in a news release.

A Dodge Caravan and a Toyota Paseo were driving north on U.S. 11 at about 7:49 a.m. when the Dodge attempted to make a U-turn at the intersection with Kauffman Road, police said. The Dodge was struck by the Toyota, police said.




Rider hurt when van, motorcycle collide in Guilford Township



CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A Harrisburg, Pa., man sustained minor injuries Saturday afternoon when his motorcycle was struck by a Dodge Caravan as it made a left turn onto U.S. 30 in Guilford Township, Pennsylvania State Police said in a news release.

The crash happened at about 4:06 p.m., as the motorcycle was headed east on U.S. 30, police said.

Leonard E. Carnathan, 53, was wearing a helmet and sustained minor injuries, police said. The driver and passenger of the Dodge Caravan were not injured, police said.




Bike reported stolen from lawn of Greencastle home



GREENCASTLE, Pa. - A 9-year-old's Mongoose 21-speed mountain bike was stolen Thursday or Friday from his lawn in the 12100 block of Grant Shook Road in Greencastle, Pennsylvania State Police said in a news release.
