HARRISONBURG, Va. - Sarah Beth Pryor of Greencastle, Pa., was named to the dean's list at James Madison University for the spring semester. Sarah is a freshman majoring in marketing and corporate communications.

Sarah is also a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority and has been selected as a First Year Orientation Guide for the fall semester. A 2007 graduate of Greencastle-Antrim High School, Sarah is the daughter of Bill and Diane Pryor of Greencastle.

A 3.5 grade-point average or higher is needed for the dean's list.

SCRANTON, Pa. - Matthew S. Baer of Hagerstown has been named to the dean's list for the spring semester at the University of Scranton.

WEST POINT, N.Y. - Cadet Alexander Gill Kline, son of Mr. and Mrs. Guy Kline of Hagerstown, graduated from the U.S. Military Academy May 31.

Kline is a 2003 St. Maria Goretti High School graduate.

He majored in physics and minored in electrical engineering at West Point.

He was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army within the engineers' branch.

MARIETTA, Ohio - Maura K. James of Boonsboro has been named to the dean's list for the spring semester at Marietta College.

She is the daughter of Rosemary and Maurice James of Boonsboro.

James is a graduate of Boonsboro High School and is working toward majors in

international leadership studies and music.

ELKINS, W. Va. - Caryn Seward of Frederick, Md., has been named to the dean's list for the spring semester at Davis & Elkins College. Seward is an English major.

She is the daughter of Kathy Bonner.

SALISBURY, Md. - Some 17 Washington County area students were named to the dean's list at Salisbury University for the spring semester.

Clear Spring area students include: Megan Blickenstaff and Kayla Semler.

Hagerstown area students include: Lindsey Fuller, Hillary Grove, William Kerns, Heather Kurtz, Amy Matonak, Erin Matonak, Samantha Schweinhart, Matthew Sullivan, Kirsten Sundstrom and Eric Ware.

Smithburg area students include: Laura Lindsay and Brittany Meadows.

Other area students include: Amanda Durski of Cascade; and Jessica Seabright of Sharpsburg.

NORTHFIELD, Vt. - William David Ballenger of Myersville, Md., received a degree in computer engineering from Norwich University at the May 11 commencement ceremony.

SALEM, Va. - Laura Catharyn Scuffins of Hagerstown has been named to the dean's list of distinguished students for the spring semester at Roanoke College.

She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Galen Scuffins. She is a Williamsport High School graduate.

FROSTBURG, Md. - Jennifer Nalley, of Smithsburg, has been named to the dean's list for the spring semester at Frostburg State University.

YORK, Pa. - York College of Pennsylvania named Jessica Washko of Sharpsburg to its dean's list for spring semester. To receive this distinction, students must carry at least 12 academic credit hours and attain a semester grade-point average of 3.5 or higher.

Washko, a graduate of Boonsboro High School, is pursuing a degree in nursing. She is the daughter of Ed and Linda Washko.

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The following area residents were recently named to the dean's list at the College of William and Mary for the spring semester:

Lindsey Hayes, from Williamsport.

James Eury, from Waynesboro, Pa.

Andrew Krouse, from Waynesboro.

Nichole Lidstrom, from Ranson, W.Va.

Eric R. Spielman has been named to the dean's list for the spring semester at St. Mary's College of Maryland.

Eric is a senior majoring in political science, and is a 2005 graduate of Williamsport High School.

He is the son of Gary and Donna Spielman and the grandson of Virginia Benningfield and Janet Carmaleta Spielman.

FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Breanne Morschauser, of Frederick, Md., was among the 1,233 students who received undergraduate degrees at Fairfield University's 58th commencement on May 18.

Breanne received a bachelor of arts degree in English - professional writing.

CARLISLE, Pa. - The following local students graduated from Dickinson College May 18:

Sebastian Alejandro Ferrer, son of Eddie and Xiomora Holmes Jr., of Smithsburg, who received a bachelor of arts degree in archaeology and classical studies. He is a Smithsburg High School graduate

Abigail Eaton Bruckart, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. William L. Bruckart, of Frederick Md., who received a bachelor of arts degree in art and art history. She is a Gov. Thomas Johnson High School graduate.

Jennifer Reine Lloyd Langston, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Langston, of Frederick, who graduated cum laude with a bachelor of science degree in biology. Other recognition included dean's list and departmental honors in biology. She is a Gov. Thomas Johnson High School graduate.

Karen Lynn Younkins, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Curt Younkins of Frederick, who received a bachelor of science degree in physics and mathematics. She is a Gov. Thomas Johnson High School graduate.
