YOUTH BASEBALL

The East Zone West Regional PONY League 13-year-old Sectional Tournament is scheduled to begin tonight at Funkhouser Park.

The double-elimination tournament begins at 6 p.m. with a game between the Hagerstown "B" All-Stars and Bucks County, Pa., followed at 8:30 p.m. by a matchup between the Hagerstown "A" All-Stars and Chambersburg.

The tourney continues Saturday with the losers of today's games meeting at 3 p.m., followed by a matchup between the winners of today's games at 5:30 p.m. At 8 p.m., the winner of the 3 p.m. game will play the loser of the 5:30 p.m. game.

On Sunday, the winners of Saturday's 5:30 and 8 p.m. games will play at 1 p.m. If necessary, a second game will be played following the 1 p.m. game.

The two teams that make it to Sunday's games will move on to the regional tournament in Boardman, Ohio.

YOUTH TRACK

Pollard in Hershey's final

Brittany Pollard, 13, of Falling Waters, W.Va., recently was selected to compete in the North American finals of the Hershey's Track & Field Games on Aug. 2 in Hershey, Pa.

Pollard, a member of Berkeley County's Heat Youth Track Club, will compete in the girls 13-14 1,600-meter run. She was the Hershey's West Virginia state champ in the event.

Let There Be Light 5K

The Let There Be Light 5K will be held July 26 in Hagerstown, starting and ending at Municipal Stadium.

Registration begins at 7:15 a.m. and the race starts at 8:30.
