AYSO team wins championship

An AYSO (American Youth Soccer Organization) U-16 girls team won the Tri-State Potomac Cup Soccer Championship for its division in Charles Town, W.Va., June 28 and 29. The team and coaches, composed of residents of Sharpsburg, Keedysville and Boonsboro, swept its division with three straight wins.

Summer school students visit zoo

Students and teachers attending Sharpsburg Elementary Summer School visited the Catoctin Zoo June 19. Principal Carl Stark and school secretary Vickie Winston accompanied the students and teachers. Based on the summer school program theme "Safari animals," students are learning about animal habitats, animal classes and animal foods. Students and teachers spent the morning at the zoo, ate lunch and returned to Sharpsburg.

Bible church to hold VBS

Chestnut Grove Bible Church will hold a vacation Bible school at the church at 3636 Chestnut Grove Road, Keedysville, from Monday, July 28 though Friday, Aug. 1 from 7 to 9 p.m. The theme for this year is "Digging for God's Truth - DinoDetectives." The Bible school is for youth ages 3 to 12. The school will include Bible lessons, music, games, puppets, skits, crafts and snacks. There is no cost. Burnside Church to hold VBS

The Burnside First Church of God, at 3904 Mills Road, Sharpsburg, will hold a vacation Bible school July 13 through 17 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. A picnic will be held July 18 at 6. Everyone is welcome. Call 301-432-6483 for more information.

Kavanaugh, House to speak to seniors

Ita Kavanaugh will speak on "Osteoporosis" Monday at the senior site in Keedysville at the Little Antietam Community Center, 40 Mt. Vernon Drive. Helen House will speak Tuesday on "Stress: How to Cope with it" and conduct exercises.
