July 10, 2008

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Does your pet look like you, or is it unusual in any way? If so, bring your animal friend to the 2008 ChambersFest Pet Parade.

Registration for the event will begin at 5 p.m. July 21 at Hawthorne Arena of Wilson College, 1015 Philadelphia Ave.

The parade of pets will begin at 5:45 p.m. and will include prizes for best kisser, pet/owner look-alike, smallest entry, largest entry, most congenial, and most unusual or exotic. Ribbons will be awarded to the top three winners in each category. There also will be a prize for best of show.

The entry fee is $5 per adult who registers a pet, and $2 per child who registers a pet. Pet owners can save $1 on the entry fee if they bring along an item to donate to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter.

Among the judges will be Nancy Gardner, president of the board of the animal shelter; Dr. Carrie Arnett, Best Friends Animal Hospital; and Cheryl Plummer, former Franklin County commissioner.
