GOLF

Little Adam Poulson wielded some big clubs Monday in the third Tri-State Junior Golf Association event.

The 13-year-old from Carroll Valley, Pa., might hit 5 feet tall stretched out like a rubber band, but he stood tall among all competitors at Black Rock Golf Course, winning the 12-13 age division with a nifty 1-over-par 73, the best score of any division.

In the 16-18 division, Haeun Lee of Hagerstown and Calvin Mentzer of Chambersburg, Pa., were deadlocked at 2-over-par 74 after 18 holes for first place. In a playoff, Lee notched a birdie on Black Rock's No. 1 to win the division.

Chris Bushey, of Williamsport, beat the 14-15 division field by five strokes with a 78.

The tournament was sponsored by Keith Staley of Parkview Plumbing of Hagerstown. The next tournament is slated for July 21 at Stonebridge Golf Course in Martinsburg, W.Va.
