July 07, 2008

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - A man who died after his truck struck a van in a parking lot of a convenience store on Washington Street Friday, forcing the van into the store, has been identified as James Allen Sudduth, police said.

It is believed that Sudduth, 53, of Leesburg, Va., suffered some type of medical condition when the wreck occurred, said Lt. Jim Knott of the Charles Town Police Department.

Sudduth was driving north on South West Street about 10:20 a.m. Friday when his car swerved and went into the Thomassen Ford dealership parking lot and struck a new truck, Knott said.

Sudduth's truck then went across the street, striking the van in the Liberty Get & Go parking lot, Knott said.

The van was pushed through a store window and about three feet into the store, Knott said.

Sudduth was pronounced dead about an hour later, Knott said.
