The Hagerstown Branch of The American Association of University Women (AAUW) has awarded 16 scholarships to Washington County students for the 2008-09 school yaer.
The students who graduated from area high schools in 2008 include Hannah Crosby of Boonsboro High School, who will attend the University of Maryland; Amanda LaFollette of Smithsburg High School, who will attend Towson University; Amy E. Ridenour of Clear Spring High School, who will attend Frostburg State University; Samantha Truax of Hancock High School, who will attend Virginia Tech.
Past recipients whose scholarships will continue include Melissa Ankeney and Kevin Motz, both attending Villa Julie College; Brittany Eberly, Hagerstown Community College; Erica Hernandez, Penn State University; Sarah Johnston, Hood College; Mary Kavanaugh, George Mason University; Deanna Mackey, Virginia Commonwealth University; Jena Mannick, University of Charleston (W.Va.); Cara L. Martin and Elizabeth Sager, both attending University of Maryland; Rebecca Slate, Frostburg State University; and Hannah Smith, Virginia Tech.
