Suns turn off Power in Charleston

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Travis Reagan's two-out single in the top of the eighth inning scored Valerio Heredia for the winning run as the Hagerstown Suns beat the West Virginia Power 4-3 on Friday at Appalachian Power Park.

Hagerstown's Kyle Gunderson (4-1) pitched the final 2 2/3 innings for the win. He allowed no runs and two hits while striking out three.

The Suns took a 3-0 lead in the first inning, despite only getting two hits. They capitalized on three walks and five wild pitches in the inning by West Virginia starter Evan Frederickson, who was making his Power debut.

Tim Pahuta's fielder's-choice grounder plated Brandon Whiting with the first run and was the only RBI in the opening frame.

The Suns were outhit 11-5 in the game.

Suns starter Erik Arnesen left after five innings with a 3-1 lead, but got a no-decision. He allowed five hits and two walks while striking out six.

The Power tied the game at 3 with single runs in the sixth and seventh off Suns reliever Jamie Lehman.

Eric Farris and Eric Fryer each had three hits and an RBI and Zelous Wheeler had two hits, including a solo homer, for West Virginia.
