Funkstown 12-17, Brunswick 4-0

BRUNSWICK, Md. - Zeke Ricketts hit two home runs in the opener of Funkstown's Western Maryland District doubleheader sweep of Brunswick on Wednesday.

Ricketts finished with three RBIs in the first game, as Funkstown (13-4, 10-3) rapped out 18 hits. Tyler Presgraves went 5-for-5 with an RBI, Marcellus Sumlin had three hits and three RBIs, Jay Shafer had two hits and three RBIs, and Raymond Rosario and Derrick Hendershot each added two hits. Josh Constable went the distance with seven strikeouts.

In the second game, Rosario had two hits and four RBIs and Funkstown scored all 17 of its runs in the first four innings and stopped the game by the 10-run rule. Shafer had two hits and an RBI, while Cody Nelling earned the victory, allowing five hits.

Volleyball coaching clinic

The Tri-State FCA Volleyball Club will host a coaching clinic on July 30 from 7 to 10 p.m. at Grace Academy. The clinic will feature former University of Maryland head coach Janice Kruger and Williamsport graduate Kelli Myers, the former University of Connecticut head coach. The clinic is open to all club, middle school, high school or aspiring coaches. Cost is $50 per coach. For more information, call 301-733-7277.

Summer volleyball camp

The Tri-State FCA Volleyball Club will host the High Performance Summer Volleyball Camp from July 30 to Aug. 1 at Grace Academy from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day. The camp will be run by former University of Maryland head coach Janice Kruger and Williamsport graduate Kelli Myers, the former University of Connecticut head coach. The camp is limited to 32 experienced players who play club and/or school volleyball from the 12U level up. Cost is $150 per player. For more information, call 301-733-7277.

Church Slow-Pitch tourney

The Church Slow-Pitch Softball Tournament, sponsored by the Freedom In Christ Saints Athletic Fund, will be held July 26 in Chambersburg, Pa., at the Freedom In Christ and Church of God fields. Entry fee is $125 per team, and teams must hit their own .44-core balls. The tournament features one-pitch bracket play with a 10-run rule and an extra hitter.
